Raju Raja Ram
We saw Govinda work with Salman Khan in Partner, a David Dhawan film. However, the two actors had come together for a film earlier as well with Jackie Shroff, and it was a David Dhawan film. But, he had to shelve it because the production company backing it went into a financial crunch, leaving Dhawan no option but to call it off.
Aankh Micholi –
Judwaa was not the only film in which Salman had to play double role. Anees Bazmee had signed him for another project titled Aankh Micholi where Salman was to play double role. However, the project was dropped since Salman had just done Judwaa and did not want another movie with a double role.
Ran Kshetra –
This film was to feature Salman with his first co-star Bhagyashree once again. However, once she got married, the project ran into trouble since she was apprehensive of furthering her career post marriage. The makers had to ultimately shelve the project.
This was a movie where Salman would have romanced his alleged real-life girlfriend on screen. Somy Ali was to be paired with Salman in this shelved flick for which Salman had already completed 50% of shooting. The reasons for the decision were never revealed and people never got to see them together on screen.
This was one ambitious project where Salman was to star with his real life buddy Sanjay Dutt. The shooting began in Utah in 1997 and had an ensemble cast including Shilpa Shetty, Raveena Tandon and Rahul Dev, who was supposed to be launched through this film. Unfortunately, director Mukul S. Anand passed away in the same year after more than 40% of the film was shot. The film was shelved and since then, has never been revived. However, the music of the film was released subsequently, made by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy.
Dil Hai Tumhara –
The film was to be made back in 1991 with Salman Khan, Sunny Deol and Meenakshi Sheshadri in lead role. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film had a huge budget, quite unheard of at the time. However, Santoshi was also busy with Barsaat after Shekhar Kapur had backed out of the project. This led to cancelation of Dil Hai Tumhara. Salman collaborated with Santoshi in Andaz Apna Apna.
Aye Mere Dost –
Shelved only after a few days, the film was to feature Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan along with Divya Bharti and Karisma Kapoor. This would have been the first time for the two brothers to come together. However, the project never really took off and before any other producer could have cast them together, Divya Bharti had an untimely death. Salman and Arbaaz finally came together with Kajol in Pyar Kia toh Darna Kya.
This film was supposed to be the directorial debut of Sohail Khan. It also starred Pooja Bhatt and Anil Kapoor with Salman as the lead. However, the film was shelved because of numerous reasons including budget plan and other creative differences. This happened after completion of half of the shooting.
The name seems too familiar, isn’t it? That’s because it was used in one of Salman’s films after this one was cancelled. Director Ketan dhawan had roped in Armaan Kohli along with Salman for this action flick. However, he changed his mind and veered towards family films leaving this one in the lurch.
Chori Mera Naam –
Another ambitious project of Salman, the film created a lot of buzz since it was meant to contain complex action sequences, elaborate sets and more. It would have starred Kajol, Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty too. But, the film was stopped mid-way and never reprised again, for reasons unknown.
