Early Life - Kareena Kapoor was born on 21 September 1980 in Mumbai, to Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Both of her parents were prominent actors, although her mother stopped acting after marriage. Her older sister is a charisma, she is also an actress.

Kareena went to Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai, then went to Welham Girls' School in Dehradun. She was not inclined towards education but studied well to satisfy her mother. She studied commerce for two years at Mithibai College, Mumbai after joining the three-month summer course in microcomputers at Harvard Summer School in the United States.
Upon her return to India, she enrolled in Government Law College in Mumbai. She decided to act seriously and thus started training under acting coach Kishore Namit Kapoor who is a member of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).
Kareena Kapoor worked in her first movie 'Refugee' in 2000. At that time at the age of 19, she played the role of a Bangladeshi girl who falls in love with refugee Abhishek Bachchan. The film was a moderate hit and the work of the young actress was greatly appreciated.
In the early stages of her career, she too was shocked when many of her films failed to perform well at the box office. Within a span of two years, his six films- 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge!'
